Finding and keeping your passion for web design
Passion was mentioned in my very first online bio for a website resume class in 2001. “After a successful career as a Retail Allocation Analyst, my priorities changed with the arrival of my son. I chose motherhood as my full time job, and as my son grew, I found opportunity for growth. In need of a creative outlet, I began to teach myself web design. Even though I had started doing pages with a WYSIWYG editor, I found myself printing the html source and trying to crack the code. I was so enthused with what I was learning, I knew I had found my passion-web design!”
Web design isn’t just a job for me, it’s my passion!
A version of this statement has been present on webcami.com ever since. As a self-starting, self-employed one-woman show, there is no way I would have made it if I wasn’t passionate about designing websites. I’m mean, I LOVE IT! You need to really have a fire burning to self-motivate every single day. Don’t get me wrong. There are days I want to lay in bed with my big, yellow lab Tank and listen to the rain outside (I live in Seattle). But most days, I can’t wait to get up and get to work. A great tool in my bag of tricks to keep daily enthusiasm for my business is Passion Planner.
I can’t describe it any better than this video does:
I don’t use this as my appointment calendar, although I do write my schedule in it each week. I use it to remind myself of my big picture goals and set intentions each week to meet them. Passion Planner helps me move forward on big things. My 2017 Passion Planner is filled with goals to launch WebCami Cafe. And here I am today writing on the website I dreamed of launching.
You can sign up and receive free PDFs of Passion Planner to try before you buy.
