Must Read: Better than Before by Gretchen Rubin

As I’ve previously shared with you all, I love using Audible for reading books.  I find myself with little time to pick up a book and read the old fashioned way, but listening to Audible is something  I can do in my office, on a walk or before bed.  Multi-tasking at it’s finest!

Last week, I noticed I had a few unused credits and downloaded Gretchen Rubin’s Better Than Before.  I had read her Happiness Project (actually have the paperback version) and really enjoyed it.  This book is about habits, which I am currently obsessed with, and divides people in to four types:

  • Upholders respond readily to outer and inner expectations
  • Questioners question all expectations; they’ll meet an expectation if they think it makes sense
  • Rebels resist all expectations, outer and inner alike
  • Obligers meet outer expectations, but struggle to meet expectations they impose on themselves

I am 100% an Obliger.  The book gives strategies for each type to create and stick to new habits or end bad ones.  She has a new book that builds on this title, The Four Tendencies, The Indispensable Personality Profiles That Reveal How to Make Your Life Better (and Other People’s Lives Better, Too)

After reading the book and visiting her website, I discovered she is launching an online course for less than $100 on these four tendencies and I thought what a great opportunity not only to get some good online training, but to see how a national author delivers an online course!

I have several clients that are working on courses now and all of them are investigating different delivery methods.  Part of the reason I am sharing this review today is to let you know this opportunity exists.  Sign up and enrollment will be open for a limited time on April 30th.

Have your read any of Gretchen’s books?  Do you have clients that have online courses?  If so, what methods of delivery to they/you use?
